Cllr Maria Higson
is one of three Conservative councillors for Hampstead Town, London Borough of Camden. Maria was elected in May 2018.
"I work in the NHS and am a governor of the Royal Free Hospital, so I’m really committed to better public services, especially improving health and social care.
I live on busy and often-gridlocked Fitzjohn’s Avenue, and I've seen as you have the impact of increasing traffic and over-development on air pollution. I’m campaigning and to plant more trees on local streets and require schools to have binding travel management plans to tackle the problem.
I volunteer at two homeless shelters, where I’m proud to work with inspirational volunteers to help people in crisis turn their lives around. I'm a liberal Conservative and I believe passionately in rolling up my sleeves to help the worst-off.
As a private renter, I am all too familiar with the difficulties of renting locally, and will do my utmost to ensure Camden works to raise the quality of the private rented sector."
