Labour Scare tactics on the 24 bus

Alex Andrews slams Labour Scare tactics on the 24 bus

Many people have contacted us concerned that the Number 24 bus route will be scrapped. This was prompted by a leaflet from Camden Labour saying that the route needed to be “saved” from “Tory cuts”..

Here are the facts:
1. Under the proposed changes the 24 bus will be renamed the 88 with the bus route remaining largely un-changed. The bus will still start at Hampstead Heath and continue on the existing route to Parliament Square. The main change is that after that the bus will go to Clapham Common, rather than Pimlico. The 168 is renamed  No 1!

2. The cuts to bus services are being brought in by Labour’s Mayor of London due to his mismanagement of TfL’s finances. Under Sadiq Khan, TfL has reached record levels of debt, while he has increased his PR spending by 50% to over £1 million a year. However the 24 BUS AND 168 BUS are still coming into Hampstead as before they will just be renumbered No. 88 and No 1
Many of us rely on public transport, especially since Camden Labour has made driving and parking in Camden so difficult. We will be responding to the consultation raising residents’ concerns about the package of changes Sadiq Khan is proposing. You can also respond to the consultation here

Your Hampstead Conservative Team will campaign to ensure Hampstead retains a direct 24h connection to Victoria Station, one of London's main railway and bus stations.
It is a sad reflection on Camden Labour that the first time they have paid any attention to Hampstead in recent memory is to campaign using fake news.
Hampstead deserves local councillors who will fight for residents, and not try to score political points with inaccurate scaremongering.
