Mayor Boris objects to 187-199 West End Lane scheme
London Mayor Boris Johnson and GLA Assembly man Brian Coleman have shared West Hampstead residents' concerns over the planned development of 187-199 West End Lane.
The development intends to create 203 new flats in our neighbourhood. Residents have echoed numerous concerns over the impact this proposed development would have in West Hampstead- with concerns as to added congestion, effects on our public services and to our overall environment. Brian Coleman has already listed his objections to the development and has raised the matter with Boris Johnson himself.
The mayor's office, in the person of Sir Edward Lister Deputy Mayor has confirmed that this development does not comply with the London Plan and that therefore this planned new site must be subject to the Mayor's office for approval and comments.
Brian has already pledged his support of West Hampstead residents in voicing their concerns over the scope of this development.
Will Davis, local campaigner, had this to say: "While everyone in West Hampstead acknowledges something must go up in this site, the plans as they were originally presented go too far. I am delighted at Brian's support and efforts and thank him for bringing this matter to the attention of mayor Boris Johnson. With their help, local residents will surely have a say in the way we want West Hampstead."
